Sofie: Illman's directorial debut which she additionally co-scripted is considerate however choppy. Copenhagen, who is powerless to cut loose of family customs, is wrecking her one possibility at real love. Cast includes Karen Minster, Erland Josephson, Ghita Norby, Jesper Christensen, Torben Zeller, and Stig Hoffmeyer. (146 minutes, 1992)

Number One with a Bullet: Carradine and Williams do well in this somewhat normal action movie where we have aggressive investigators out to dethrone a drug kingpin. Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: Try to link melodies from The Beatles' classic album into some kind of tale line just doesn't work; patterns range from reasonable to humiliating. As to The Bee Gees performing ability, well let's just say that they are not the Beatles. Cast includes Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, George Bums, Sandy Farina, and Steve Martin. (111 minutes, 1978)

Shadowlands: Based on the story of British author C. S. Lewis the Lion, The Sorcerer and the Closet whose content is of the hard life he had as an Oxford man in the 1950s. He is rattled by his meeting with a forthright American poet. The film is knowledgeable and moving, with Hopkins in top form and Winger his match. The other performers are also excellent. Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm: Formulaic film in regards to spunky gal who's sent to live with her 2 abrasive aunts; mixes emotion, melodrama, and comedy, although it needs the spontaneity and kindle of other Pickford films. Night Must Fade: Cerebral effort to match the original, this redo is too apparent and theatrical for any credibility. Cast includes Albert Finney, Susan Hampshire, Mona Washbourne, Sheila Hancock, Michael Medwin, Joe Gladwin, and Martin Wyldeck. (105 minutes, 1964)

Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip: Pryor on Africa, sex, lawyers, his spouse, sex, Italian mobsters, more sex, and freebasing. Some of it's ludicrous, some isn't, however the audience is always shown tripled over with laughter. (82 minutes, 1982)
