Many of you may think of Australia as being not much more than dirt and desert. In truth, this country has much to offer people in all walks of life. I recently visited family in Australia and was very surprised at what I found.
The first place we headed was the beach of all things. I never really though about Australia being a continent all to itself but it has miles of beaches covered in white sand and beautiful blue waters. They have snorkeling, diving, and surfing available at just about all of the beaches there. And if the marine life and reefs aren't enough to lure you in then they also have moss covered submarines and underwater caves begging to be explored.
Sydney offers a fast pace night life with concerts, shows, and numerous festivals and activities to keep you plenty busy. You defiantly won't be bored here and the action seems never ending. They also boast over 70 beaches plus the have a gorgeous harbor and even an opera house.
The deserts were a real surprise as well. The Aboriginal culture is something that has to be experienced to truly understand and appreciate. They have stories handed down for generations with there own forms of dance and music that rival the American Indian culture. In the isolated centre we found colorful vegetation and abundant green ponds. Again, it was like stepping into a whole new world.
Be prepared for a bit of culture shock. You should keep in mind that this is a foreign country and though they are much like me and you, you may find some very interesting people. Many Australians will gladly sit around a fire and spin you a yarn into the wee hours of the morning. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful.
Australia is a wonderful vacation spot with lots of culture and activities packed into one place. With the great prices I got I am hoping to go back again soon. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get away and try something new.
